End of the week, start of the next.

It has been a wonderful ' finale' to the week, JC class outing was terrific for some reason. The combination of Fane, Ryan and myself is just very fun and funny.. hmmm..yea and of course miss goody goody yuetwan. Good news that Man United are back to winning ways, Taulfik in the Singapore Idol finals and The Incredibles was great. It was a great end to the week. Great stuff.
Step back to reality. Back to camp. Won't be home for another 6 days. Longest since last November. I can't believe it. Eating shitty food and little rest. Harbour defense that's it. Diving in the wee hours, searching mindlessly for fake mines implanted on ship hulls, propellors, shafts by enemy divers. Tough shit huh.
Every generation has something to identify themselves with. We have the handphones, telecommunications shit in the 2000s, the internet and emergence of computers in the 1990s, the end of the cold war late 80s, steady economic growth in the 80s, rock and roll in the 60s, world wars and the great depression between 1910s and 1940s. But those things are too big to identify yourself with. The best thing will be icons.
Icons, like movie stars, singers, politicans. But for the majority, it's the celebrities, cos you probably wouldn't care who Nikita Khuruschev was. Like the late Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung. Fans who have worshipped them, followed their lives, bought their albums, sang their songs, attended their concerts, grown up together with their celebrity careers. And suddenly to the consternation of the world, they vanish from the face of this world. A feeling of sorrow, bitterness, rancor of our fragile lives reflected so clearly on these people. Icons of their generation are in fact, their distant relatives and it's inevitable they feel bad about it.
There will come a time when Jacky Cheung dies and I will be so lost. There will be a time when Brad Pitt dies and I'll wonder where are all the good looking people. There will be a time when Li-lin dies and i will still be thinking why she married Allan Wu. There will be a time when David Beckham dies and newspapers will dedicate that entire day for him. That some day will come where all the stars, the rich and famous of our time will perish one by one and we could only think back of our youth, look back at our memories cos in one way or another, our lives with these people are so closely connected. It's still so many years from now before we get to that stage, i'm really just crapping. Maybe.
It will be some time again before i log on again. For those people who are addicted to this blog, i know it's hard on you. I know you're dying for more, but all good things come to an end. Good things always happen but bad things persists. People, we have to be strong.
Faith, if not logic and common sense will pull us through. au revoir.

Brad may die, but Jennifer will live on! Females have a longer average lifespan than males mah... And that will be enough for me.
